Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has approved a proposal to increase salaries, including the minimum wage for civil servants by 23.3 percent, of which Sh1.59 trillion will be used for the increase.
A statement issued today, May 14 by the Director of Communications at the Presidential Palace, Zuhura Yunus, said the proposals were a continuation of a recent meeting of Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa in Dodoma and received reports from experts on salary increases.
The statement said the government plans to spend Sh9.7 trillion in the 2022/23 financial year to cover the salaries of all employees in the Central Government, Local Government, Institutions and Government Agencies.

“The salary budget for 2022/23 is an increase of Sh1.59 trillion equivalent to 19.51 percent compared to the budget for the financial year 2021/22,” the statement said.
