NSFA Living Allowance and Learning Material Allowance
Only a Living Allowance and a Learning Material Allowance (LMA) are available to students receiving Unisa NSFAS funding (LA).
According to the 2022 DHET Grant Funding Guidelines, LMA is calculated based on the number of modules registered: R600 per module for the first four modules and a one-time cost of R5200 for five to 10 courses. There won’t be any additional LMA fees after paying R5200 for the first five modules.
The DHET Grant Funding Guidelines for 2022 state that students who have registered for 10 units are eligible for LA. Unfortunately, this allocation will be lost if a student enrolls in 10 courses and subsequently drops some of them.
